Parkgate Road, Battersea (VM Zinc Anthra Cassette Panels)

A residential property in which the original facade has been retained and a new structure has been constructed to the rear. 3 of the 4 levels to the rear elevation are clad in VM Zinc Anthra cassette panels, as are the side elevations to the top floor. Metal Line Roofing and Cladding were responsible for both the timber / insulation substrate and the zinc cladding. The project also has over 200 metres of Zinc Coping in the same material.

Zinc Porch

A small but incredibly satisfying project. The zinc really adds to the character of the building. The substrate works were completed by the builder and Metal Line were left to design and install the zinc as we felt best. The Zinc is VM Quartz Plus clad onto 18mm plywood. The roof of the porch is also zinc and incorporates a zinc gutter.

Pole Hill Road (VM Zinc - Quartz)

A residential property with a variety of zinc roofing and cladding elements. Cassette panels have been installed to the terraces and roof gardens, as well as to some external elevations of the building. Elsewhere single lock panel soffit and copings are installed. The Panel layout intention was shown in architectural drawings, which Metal Line then adapted to match the site dimensions. The whole project had to be mapped out before the first panels could be fabricated and installed, due to the nature in which the panels meet from floor to floor.

House Extension Cladding Replacement - Highgate

We were called to replace some damaged PVC cladding which had blown off in the recent high winds. As you can see in the before and after photo's, the extension used to look a little out of place. But after the Prelaq Nova PLX Bronze panels were installed it brought the whole building into focus and created a feature, rather than a simple addition.

Zinc Canopy Cladding (Ham Shades, Kent)

This was an interesting project where the look of the existing canopy was to be maintained, but using manufacturers approved details. The original canopy had suffered from splitting due the the welded joints. We overcame this problem by introducing welts between each panel, each secured using a sliding clip which allows thermal movement.

Conservatory Conversion, VM Zinc - Quartz, Milton Keynes

We installed a new Zinc roof to a conservatory, which was converted into a fully fledged extension by Daniels Roofing (view their website here.) The original PVC roof was removed and replaced with a fully insulated timber roof, which Metal Line then clad in VM Quartz Zinc.

Copper Dome, Chiswick - KME TECU Patina Copper

A refurbished copper dome required to look like the original. The dome was clad in KME Tecu Patina in the traditional method. The finial was produced for us by an external company to our specification and installed once the other copper works were complete.

Kitchen Extension Roof clad in VM Zinc Anthra
Originally we were contracted to cover the existing roof with zinc, however upon inspection of the supporting timbers and steel (which were incorrectly installed) it was decided that Metal Line would replace the whole roof.

Standing Seam Roofing and Fascias site fabricated from Prelaq PLX Steel in Dark Grey.
Originally only contracted to provide standing seam roofing to 2 pitched roofs and 5 bay windows - due to time constraints and lead times we were later asked to take over from the Powder Coated Aluminium contractor and provide all soffit and fascia coverings.

Copper Loft Conversion Repair and Replace, Central London

We were contacted as a last minute replacement after the client was let down by another contractor. The existing loft conversion had been altered to make more internal space and as a result large amounts of the original copper were removed or damaged. We repaired what could be saved and replaced the rest. We used pre-weathered Aurubis copper to create a better match to the existing aged copper.

VM Zinc Quartz Mansard Dormers, Oxford.

We were contracted to cover the dormers in pre-weathered zinc. The glazing was already installed and the slate and lead work was by another contractor.

Copper Fascia and Parapet to Kitchen Extension, West London.

As now seems to happen with new steel type extensions there was little thought given to the covering of the steels. We have encountered this now on 3 separate occasions where we have been asked to "Fill the gap" between the glazing installer and the Steel contractor. In this instance the choice of material was Aurubis pre weathered copper.

Zinc Parapet, London
This zinc parapet was fabricated on site and equated to a significant cost saving for the client, who was previously considering a pre-fabricated powder coated aluminium solution. We were able to come to site, survey, fabricate and install in the same day.

Copper Flashings, West London
Here we installed copper step flashings to 2 bay windows of a converted residential joint property. The home owner wanted the homes to look symmetrical, so we also carried out some slate repairs and replaced the hip tiles to the right window, making the two look the same. All chasing and pointing was carried out by ourselves.

Residential Steel Dormers and Extension, West London - Prelaq Nova PLX Steel
The bungalow conversion was a great chance for us to use Prelaq Steel in a traditional cladding application. The lower cost of steel allowed the client to clad more areas of their home than originally planned. Both dormer windows to the front and a large dormer window to the rear were clad in standing seam Prelaq Nova PLX Steel. The client also decided to clad the gable end of their extension in the same material, perfectly blending the old and new elements of the home together.

Bay Window (Fulham)

We replaced a Bay Window zinc roof with Bright VM Zinc as per the look of the original installation as part of a house refurbishment. We altered the design slightly from the original to prevent the possibility of water ingress. These works were measured, fabricated and installed in a single day using our portable fabrication equipment.

 Wye School Repair (Kent)

We were called to repair a Euroseam roof which had failed in high winds. We were the only roofing contractor to respond to the enquiry and have since learned that the school was trying to get the roof repaired for many years. Metal Line repaired the roof in a single day.

The original system is formed of aluminium profiles and secured with aluminium rivets. Over time vibrations from the wind meant that the rivet holes became enlarged, eventually resulting in the 2 joined pieces separating. The unsecured aluminium profile fell into the school grounds (see photos.)

Due to extremely high prices, the school was unable to get a replacement panel manufactured to the original profile and system, and since the guarantee had expired, we were asked what we could do with on site fabrication.

The results were surprising and both our client and the school were extremely happy with our work. We used Prelaq Nova PLX Steel in short lapped sections to facilitate the curve of the roof.

Black Zinc Downpipe to mimic the look of Cast Iron original, Central London.

We were asked to provide a cost effective alternative to the irreparable cast iron downpipe which would satisfy the listed status requirements of the building. We produced and installed a square section VM Zinc down pipe and produced bespoke zinc fixing braces which mimicked the look of the original cast iron supports.

Zinc Dormer to Loft Conversion (West London)

We were contracted by the loft conversion company to clad the timber structure of the newly formed dormer in Zinc. This was a small project which only took one day to fabricate and install on site. Notice the secret gutters we installed to each side of the dormer, allowing the roofer to reinstate the slates without the need for lead soakers or additional flashing works.

Zinc Roof Hatch, West London

Proving that there really is no project too small for our attention we were asked if we could cover an existing roof hatch with zinc to satisfy the listed status of the building. The work took only an hour and everything was hand made on site with hand tools.
